Simply put, dating (whether to looking for someone or already with someone) or celebrating any occasion, has become quite subdued.  Novelty is longer part of the whole scheme.  It lacks the luster, the thrill and the excitement new experiences provide.  Wanting is the imagination to create something different.  Practicality has taken place over creativity.
